Convert HEIC to JPG on your device
Drop your iPhone photos here and get JPGs back in seconds. The conversion runs inside your browser using WebAssembly, so the photos never leave your computer or phone. There is no upload, no queue, and no server that could keep a copy.
Turn off your Wi-Fi. It still works. This is the tool for the usual HEIC headaches: a Windows PC that shows a blank thumbnail, an upload form that rejects the file, a print shop or marketplace listing that only takes JPG, or a relative who cannot open what you sent them.
Why convert HEIC to JPG
- Batch: drop a whole folder and download one zip.
- Full resolution and the correct orientation, with iPhone colour profiles handled.
- Location data and other EXIF metadata are stripped in the process, so the JPGs are safe to share.
How to convert HEIC to JPG without uploading
- Drop HEIC files onto the box above, or click it to pick them. On a phone you can choose straight from your photos.
- Adjust quality if you want. The default is tuned to be visually identical to the original.
- Download. Each file gets a button as it finishes; with more than one file you can download a single zip. The JPG files are written entirely on your device.
About HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container)
HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads have shot in by default since iOS 11 in 2017. It stores photos at roughly half the size of an equivalent JPG, which is why Apple chose it, and it is also why so many websites, Windows PCs and older apps cannot open it.
Windows needs a paid HEVC extension to open HEIC files, most upload forms reject them, and many email clients show them as attachments nobody can open.
About JPG (JPEG)
JPG is the format everything opens. It has been the default for photographs since the early 1990s, every device, browser, upload form and photo printer accepts it, and at a sensible quality setting the compression is invisible for photos.
JPG cannot store transparency, and re-saving a JPG many times slowly degrades it.
Questions
Why can’t Windows open my HEIC photos?
Windows only opens HEIC with Microsoft’s HEIF and HEVC extensions, and the HEVC one is a paid add-on on most PCs. Converting to JPG sidesteps that entirely: every version of Windows opens JPG.
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
A little, in the sense that both formats are lossy and the JPG is a re-encode. At the default quality setting the difference is not visible. The JPG will be larger than the HEIC because HEIC compresses more efficiently; that is normal.
Can I stop my iPhone shooting HEIC in the first place?
Yes. In Settings, Camera, Formats, choose Most Compatible and the camera saves JPG. You can also leave HEIC on and turn on Transfer to Mac or PC: Automatic, which converts on the way out.
